NEW YORK CITY — A Crown Heights performance space known for groove-friendly music will shutter its doors next month for the last time, owners recently announced.

Wild Birds will host a final swan song at the Dean Street venue, off Classon Avenue, on Sept. 5, its owners announced on Instagram.

"Every day we opened our doors to you, and you in turn made every night a blessing," owners wrote Sunday. "You made our dream take flight."

Wild Birds was co-founded by in 2019 Julian Klepper and Luke Bonner who turned house-party-hosting into a brick-and-mortar business, according to the venue website.

The space opened as an outdoor venue amid the coronavirus pandemic in May 2020 and began hosting indoor events a year later.

The venue primarily focused on groove-based music such as Afrobeat, soul, funk and "all the various worlds jazz encapsulates, according to the site.

The owners did not disclose the reason behind the "sad and sudden news" but promised Wild Birds hadn't been shot down in entirety.

"While it’s true that wild birds is a brick-and-mortar location," owners wrote, "it is—more than that—an idea that will rise again, like the phoenix."

Wild Birds' flock to Instagram to mourn the loss of the local venue, among them Grammy-nominated singer Priya Darshini

"Heartbroken to hear this, but beyond a doubt you will rise again," Darshini replied.

"Thank you for all that you’ve done to keep music, and our hearts alive- especially during a time when everything else had shut down. That’s legendary stuff. And will go down in history."
