Woman Killed By MTA Bus In Prospect-Lefferts Gardens Reportedly 'Decapitated'
The woman was fatally struck by the bus on Saturday and witnesses say she apparently laid down under the bus.
PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS, NY — A woman died after being struck by an MTA bus at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Lincoln Road late Saturday afternoon and witnesses said the impact apparently left the woman decapitated.
According to the NYPD, police responded to the scene at around 2:55 p.m. Saturday and found the woman, who is in her 30s, unconscious and unresponsive with severe trauma to her head and body. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The NYPD said the MTA bus was going southbound on Nostrand Avenue and struck the pedestrian as she attempted to cross Nostrand Avenue. The driver remained on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

A witness told the New York Daily News that the woman threw herself under the rear bus tire and was decapitated.
A police spokesperson told Gothamist that the woman was "observed running into oncoming traffic and apparently laid down under an MTA bus." Reached by Patch on Sunday, an NYPD spokesperson said he did not have any information to that effect.

Gothamist also reported that the death was being investigated as a suicide. An NYPD spokesperson told Patch that they did not currently have any information on a possible cause.
