Woman Killed By Truck Driver In Crown Heights: Police

Police said a truck driver ran over and killed an elderly woman crossing Utica Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A woman was stuck and killed by a truck driver on Utica Avenue Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

At around 2:30 p.m., a woman was crossing Utica Avenue near St. Johns Place when a truck driver traveling north slammed into her, killing her on the spot, according to police.

Although police could not confirm her age, officials estimated that the victim was around 75-years-old.

According to photos from the scene by a freelance reporter, the truck belongs to Kingsland Block & Masonry. A person who answered the phone at the company confirmed that one of its trucks was involved in an accident.

The truck has six tickets for non-moving violations according to HowsMyDriving.nyc, totaling just under $600 in fines, including one for a missing license plate, a condition that remains according to a tweet from the on-scene reporter.

Police said they driver remained on the scene and could not confirm that they had administered a breathalyzer test, citing the ongoing investigation.
