ICYMI: Woman Slashed At Brooklyn Public Library, Police Say
A man was arrested for the incident, which followed a "verbal dispute."
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A woman was slashed at the Brooklyn Public Library's main branch in Grand Army Plaza on Wednesday following a "verbal dispute," an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
Terrence Wilmot, 43, was arrested for slashing the 26-year-old victim, police said. The woman refused medical attention, police said, and a knife was recovered at the scene.
"Maintaining safe library spaces for our patrons is of the utmost importance to us," a spokesperson for the Brooklyn Public Library told Patch in an email. "We thank our staff for acting quickly, following the safety protocols we have in place throughout our system, and working with law enforcement to contain the incident."

The library also notes that while incidents like this are rare, they can happen in public spaces where anyone is free to walk in and out. Security cameras are located throughout the library.
