BROOKLYN, NY — The Brooklyn Museum is planning to go all-out to celebrate its 200th anniversary later this year, with a birthday bash and special exhibits and programs on the docket.

The museum was first incorporated in 1824 as the borough's first free circulating library, and has been at its current location on Eastern Parkway for more than 120 years.

"From our beginnings to the global cultural hub we are today, our story has always been one of evolution and transformation," museum staff said in a post on Feb. 1.
