- Over 32 pallets of essential items have arrived in Ukraine, stemming from a Queens supply drive spearheaded by Council Members Robert Holden and James Gennaro. The items were originally intended to be shipped to Rzeszow, a Polish city near the Ukrainian border, however, the goods were shipped directly to Kiev with the assistance of the Polish Consul General, the president of Rzeszow, and Kiev Mayor—and former heavyweight boxer—Vitali Klitschkothe. More than half of the borough’s Council delegation participated in the drive and there was a total of 25 sponsors. (Sunnyside Post)
- A video was released on Monday, which showed an NYC mugger shoving and robbing a pregnant woman. On Mar. 9, the 26-year-old victim was walking at 131st Street and Liberty Avenue in South Richmond Hill just after 6 a.m. when the suspect – heading in the other direction – pulled on her purse and knocked her onto the sidewalk. According to police, the victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for pain in her stomach and scrapes on her hands. (New York Post)
- A fire at a Queens subway station caused train delays on Monday morning. According to a tweet by the FDNY, the blaze started at about 5:45 a.m. at the Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue–JFK Airport subway station on the edge of Jamaica. The blaze was under control within 10 minutes, however, it took several hours for the trains to get back on track. (Patch)

Where should you invest as a Queens resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there’s a new investment Queens residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now and many of them chose it.
This may surprise you, but it’s fine art.
Growing your nest egg with art isn’t new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.
Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.
Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.
