  1. Amid New York City's ongoing "blood emergy," Bayside residents will soon have the opportunity to help. On Monday, Mar. 7, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament will host a blood drive at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Donors must wear a mask and symptom-screen for COVID-19; if recently recovered from COVID, they must be symptom-free for 14 days.   2. On Friday, police officially classified the death of a Queens grandma as a homicide. On Nov. 26, GuiYing Ma was attacked by a large rock, entering a coma after the assault; she ultimately succumbed to her injuries on Feb. 22. Elisaul Perez was arrested in the attack on Ma. (WPIX 11 New York)
  3. A Department of Corrections employee was arrested while on duty on Thursday, now facing charges for several crimes. According to the NYPD, Brandon Pearce was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, aggravated cruelty to animals, and criminal trespassing. Police from Jamaica's 113th Precinct arrested Pearce around 7:45 a.m. (QNS.com)
