Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. A house fire in Queens took the life of a 91-year-old man. At around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the home on 88th Avenue in Bellerose. The man was unresponsive when he was found on the first floor. (WABC-TV)
  2. A woman was taken to the hospital after she was beaten and robbed in an attempted rape in Queens. On Sunday morning at around 3:30 a.m., a 38-year-old woman was followed into an elevator by a man who slapped her on her backside and was attacked. The incident occurred near 190 Street and Woodhull Avenue in Hollis. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition after suffering bruising and swelling to the face. (WABC-TV)
  3. Permits have been filed for a new, seven-story mixed-use building in Whitestone. The proposed plan for 87-57 150th Street would yield 45,880 square feet, with 59 residences, most likely rentals, as well as a cellar and 23 enclosed parking spaces, and seven open parking spaces. At this time, an estimated completion date has not been announced. (New York YIMBY)
