- A 60-year-old man was killed on Sunday when he stumbled off a Queens subway platform and was struck by a departing train. According to police, the man had just disembarked from an E train at the Jamaica-Van Wyck Station around 11:30 p.m. when he stumbled onto the tracks. He was struck in the head and could not be saved. Police have not determined what caused the man to stumble. (New York Post)
- A yellow cab driver was found dead in Queens early Saturday, allegedly beaten to death by passengers. According to officials, the driver stopped near Beach 54th Street and Arverne Bouelvard at about 7:00 a.m. to drop off the passengers when they attempted to rob him. The police are searching for the group of five people, including three men and two women. As of Sunday evening, there are still no arrests in this case. (NBC New York)
- The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York has filed charges against postal workers in Queens alleging a bribery scheme. According to a press release from the Department of Justice, workers are alleged to have accepted bribes and stolen hundreds of pieces of mail. They could face up to 25 years in prison.
