  1. NYPD is asking the public for help in identifying a man who is responsible for a stabbing in Queens. On Friday night at 10:10 p.m., a 40-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest and forced to perform a sex act behind a building on 153rd Street near Tuskegee Airman Way in Jamaica. The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition and the suspect took off. (CBS)
  2. An Astoria lawmaker is bashing the return of plainclothes NYPD officers in the 114th precinct. On Monday, Council Member Tiffany Cabán took to Twitter to denounce the impending deployment of plainclothes units — stating the units have targeted minorities in the past using stop-and-frisk tactics and were ineffective at reducing crime. The progressive lawmaker states a better strategy would be to invest in the city’s “Crisis Management System,” as a means of reducing violence in the community. (Sunnyside Post)
  3. A preliminary Queens greenway plan was announced on Monday by the New York City Parks Department and Department of Transportation. Thanks to The "Destination: Greenways! Study," areas in Central Queens were identified that are prime for the investment into the pedestrian and cyclist pathways that connect borough residents with green space. Under the new plan, the path would run through Queens from Flushing Meadows Corona Park through Kissena Park, Cunningham Park, Alley Pond Park, and Joe Michaels Mile to connect the borough’s parks.
