Diwali Festival To Celebrate Its Eighth Year In Flushing Town Hall
Flushing Town Hall is preparing to gather New Yorkers to its eighth annual Diwali Festival during the first weekend of November.
QUEENS — A new Queens tradition is springing up around the ancient Diwali holiday.
Flushing Town Hall will host its eighth annual Diwali Festival with a dance-, food- and art-filled event Nov. 5.
The festival will include Kathak dancers, Indian food, and artwork from a rangoli design competition.

The event will also be streamed live on YouTube.
Tickets will be available in advance starting at $15, plus fees, for adults. Tickets for children, students, and members will start at $10, plus fees.

Diwali is one of the biggest holidays celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists. The holiday is celebrated by over 200,000 New Yorkers, according to a statement by assembly member Jenifer Rajkumar.
Diwali will be a public school holiday in New York City starting next year, Mayor Eric Adams announced last week alongside state assemblywoman Rajkumar, who introduced the legislation.
