- Voter turnout was low in Tuesday's election in Queens, according to early numbers collected by polling places. According to a poll worker, the reason why not many people vote in the primary election is that there isn't much interest. "Only the supporters are coming in to vote and others don't show up," he said. As of Tuesday afternoon, no results are in, but many polling sites have received less than 100 votes. (QNS.com)
- Police are looking for men who reportedly impersonated NYPD officers in the theft of $10,000. The robbery, which took place on Jul. 23 at 1:00 a.m., involved two men. One of the men had a distinctive arm tattoo which can be seen in recovered surveillance footage. The men escaped in a dark-colored Ford Mustang and have not yet been caught. - A Whitestone man was charged with over 140 counts related to illegal firearms. The man allegedly had 42 illegal firearms in his home, including hunting rifles, handguns, shotguns, and semi-automatic rifles. Of those guns, 17 were ghost guns personally manufactured and 25 were commercially manufactured. The arrest was part of a larger project to identify buyers of "ghost guns" in Queens by District Attorney Melinda Katz. (Queens Chronicle)
