Elmhurst, Woodside Rank Among Neighborhoods With Peak Interest: Data

QUEENS — Neighborhoods in Queens saw the most interest from buyers and renters in the city this year, according to Streeteasy data.
The real estate website looked at the neighborhoods with an increase in home prices, rents and user searches on their platform in 2022 to list the neighborhoods home hunters and renters are most interested in.
Elmhurst, Woodside, Sunnyside, and Middle Village were among the top 10 neighborhoods on the list, beating Manhattan and Brooklyn, each with three neighborhoods on the list.

“Two neighborhoods in Queens with easy access to Manhattan along the 7 train line soared in popularity, while two other Queens neighborhoods with more affordable home prices also made the list,” reads StreetEasy’s report.
Elmhurst was ranked the most popular neighborhood in Queens, jumping 42 percent in searches.

The central Queens neighborhood saw a 16 percent annual increase in median asking price this year to $436,000, while the median asking rent rose 17 percent to $2,100.
Woodside and Sunnyside, which are along the 7 train line, are expected to show home price increases next year. The median asking price in Woodside was set to $429,000 and the median rent to $2,000.
Sunnyside’s median asking rent was of $2,200, which is 4 percent lower than the borough median.
Middle Village showed double-digit price increases in asking prices and rents. The median asking price rose 11 percent for the year to $799,000, and the median asking rent jumped 14 percent to $2,400.
