Fire Blazes Through Queens Village House

A firefighter and paramedic both reported minor injuries from the blaze, which tore through a vacant Queens home early Thursday morning.

QUEENS VILLAGE, QUEENS -- A three-alarm fire set a vacant home in Queens ablaze early Thursday morning.

Flames had engulfed the home at 99-56 211 Place in Queens Village by the time firefighters responded to the fire at around 3 a.m. An FDNY spokesman told Patch 33 units and 140 firefighters battled the blaze from outside the building to keep the fire from spreading.

The fire was put under control two hours later at around 5:10 a.m. A firefighter and paramedic both reported minor injuries from the blaze, according to FDNY.

Authorities have no idea what caused the vacant home to set fire, an FDNY spokesman said. The investigation is ongoing.
