A fire engulfed two Arverne homes in flames Friday afternoon, according to the FDNY.

ARVERNE, QUEENS — A fire engulfed two Arverne homes in flames Friday afternoon, according to the FDNY.
The blaze broke out just after 4 p.m. on Beach 68th Street by Elizabeth Avenue, a Fire Department spokesperson said. The fire soon spread to the home next door.
More than 100 firefighters and EMS personnel are on scene battling the blaze, the FDNY said.
