Woman Dead, Daughter Wounded In Queens Stabbing: NYPD

Police took the woman's husband into custody but he has not yet been charged.

FRESH MEADOWS, QUEENS — A Fresh Meadows woman was fatally stabbed and her teenage daughter wounded Tuesday afternoon in a domestic dispute that turned violent, police said.

Cops responded to a home on 69th Avenue near 195th Lane just after 3:30 p.m. and found the woman, 44-year-old Fatima Jawad, with stab and slash wounds to her torso, the NYPD said.

Jawad's 18-year-old daughter was also found with slash wounds to her wrist and hands, police said. Both of them were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where Jawad was pronounced dead, the NYPD said.

Jawad's husband, 58, was taken into custody at the scene but has not yet been charged, police said. The man had a slash wound to his hand and was taken to Queens General Hospital for treatment, according to police.

Jawad's daughter was in stable condition at the hospital, police said. The attack is still under investigation, the NYPD said.
