Here are the top three stories in Queens today:
- Two Italian businessmen who were visiting New York City were found dead in a short-term rental in Long Island City. According to police, officers responded to a 911 call at 2:45 a.m. to a building on 29th street. The two men were found unconscious inside. Emergency services declared the two men dead at the scene. Their deaths are being investigated as suspected overdoses. (Fox News)
- New York Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar held a press conference on Aug. 9 to speak on an alleged hate crime at the Tulsi Mandir. The Hindu temple, located in South Richmond Hill, was allegedly vandalized on Aug. 3 by three unidentified men. Reportedly, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was also smashed outside the mandir. Congressman Gregory Meeks and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards joined the assemblywoman for the press conference. (newsindiatimes.com)
- Paperboy Love Prince, a recording artist and member of Social Democrats of America, will announce his candidacy for Congress in New York's District 7. The event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Social Democrats of America is a 501(c)4 organization based in Maryland.
