- A 31-year-old man was critically injured in a Queens hit-and-run on Monday night. The victim was crossing Liberty Avenue at 160th Street in Jamaica at around 10:15 p.m. when he was hit. Police are investigating, as the car did not stop after striking the victim — the driver continued westbound on Liberty Avenue, according to the NYPD. (1010 WINS)
- Two men jumped into action to stop a robbery in Queens and were stabbed in the process. Louie Suljovic, the owner of Louie's Pizza on Baxter Avenue, was working behind the counter with his father Charlie when they saw a 61-year-old woman being attacked and stabbed by three men just before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. The men held down two of the three suspects until police arrived and then walked themselves to the emergency room at Elmhurst Hospital across the street. (WABC-TV)
- Three new restaurants opened up within blocks of each other in Forest Hills. Mighty Quinn's Barbecue recently opened up at 108-22 Queens Boulevard, serving slow-smoked southern barbecue. Down the road, an authentic Mexican taqueria opened at 71-22 Austin St. called Tacombi. Over at 107-12 70 Rd., just steps from the subway station, is a new sports bar with a "high-end" feel, called Roam. (FOX 5 New York)
