Here are the top three stories today in Queens:
- Kith partnered with Marvel to create an amazing Spider-Man experience in Oakland Gardens. The pop-up, which celebrates the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man, is available through this Sunday, Jul. 17. Event-goers can buy Spider-Man merchandise, view a Kith edition Spider-Man comic book, and many more items. Attendees who arrived on day one waited in line for over two hours to get into the location. (QNS.com)
- He came in through the Dunkin' window. A thief used an unorthodox means to enter a Dunkin' Donuts. At about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the burglar pried open the drive-thru window using a crowbar and climbed in. A photo released by police shows the man climbing through the windown of the Dunkin' on Flushing Avenue near 61st Street to retrieve a cash register. (PIX11 New York News)
- A robbery went wrong, and one police officer accidentally shot and killed another. Should this man pay the price? When a man using a fake gun attempted to rob a T-Mobile in Richmond Hill, police surrounded the site and opened fire when the man charged. A detective was killed by the crossfire, and now the robber's co-conspirator is being charged with felony murder. Felony murder is a doctrine that means that when someone dies during the commission of a felony, the criminal will also be charged with murder. Read Jagger Freeman's story, and consider one of many complicated and sometimes unfair parts of our criminal justice system. (Gothamist)
