Here are the top stories today in Queens:

  1. Over the weekend, NYC Health + Hospitals announced that Queens residents and travelers passing through LaGuardia Airport will still have access to COVID-19 testing, after stating last week that the LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International Airport test sites would be closing by the end of the first week of Dec. Despite the closure of the static site in the airport on Dec. 4, the New York City Test and Trace Corps will continue to serve the area with a mobile testing van through the holiday season. H+H did not announce plans to create a mobile site at JFK. (Queens Daily Eagle)
  2. Congressman Tom Suozzi, who represents a portion of Northeast Queens and northern Long Island, announced on Monday that he is running for governor in 2022. Suozzi, who touts himself as a “common-sense Democrat,” will step down from his congressional seat at the end of next year in order to run for governor. He has a long track record in government, and was previously the mayor of Glen Cove, a town on the north shore of Long Island, from 1994 to 2001, and was Nassau County Executive from 2002 to 2009, before entering Congress in 2017. (Forest Hills Post)
  3. For the Queens-obsessed loved one in your life, here's what to get them this holiday season. Check out Meanwhile Back In Queens, who offer several accessories to throw on a backpack, notebook, or jacket, all of which have the potential to spark a conversation about the borough, the brand promises. Another local vendor, Queens Jerk, offers a range of shirts, sweatshirts, hats, accessories, and more that represent Queens, often in a cheeky way. (Queens Daily Eagle)
  4. The Queens District Attorney’s Office has announced that the 60-year-old woman who fatally struck a 37-year-old delivery worker in Astoria with her car this spring will not face charges. The Queens DA issued a memo on Nov. 15 which stated that there is “insufficient evidence” to prosecute the woman who struck and killed Xing Long Lin with her car on April 29. The decision sparked criticism among bike advocates and some residents, as initial reports following the crash stated that the woman was driving well over the speed limit and drove into the bike lane to pass another car when she hit Lin, a husband and father of two. (Astoria Post)
  5. The Foo Fighters are coming to Queens in July, as a part of a new North American tour "Live In North America 2022." The 27th anniversary show will take place on July 17 at Citi Field Stadium. Tickets go on sale Dec. 3, but you can enter now to win tickets. (wpdh.com)
