Lethal Butt Injection Ends In Jail Sentence For Queens Woman: DA

A Rosedale woman was sentenced to a year in jail for performing an illicit silicone butt injection that quickly turned fatal.

QUEENS, NY — A Queens woman will spend a year in jail for performing a silicone butt injection that turned fatal, after spending four years on the lam in London, prosecutors announced Thursday.

Rosedale resident Donna Francis, 39, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide for the illicit butt enhancement, which unfolded in a Far Rockaway basement in May 2015 and left a Maryland woman dead.

Francis, who is not a doctor, demanded $1,600 in cash from the 34-year-old woman, who drove up from Maryland with her mom for the procedure, according to the Queens district attorney's office.

The injection sent the woman into cardiac arrest, prosecutors said. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she couldn't be saved.

The cause of death was systemic silicone emboli, which is when free silicone enters the bloodstream and causes a blockage, the medical examiner's office ruled.

"A young woman simply seeking to enhance her physical appearance instead sadly lost her life at the hands of an incompetent quack who turned a basement apartment into a second-rate medical office – complete with a massage table and silicone gel purchased off the Ebay website," Acting Queens District Attorney John Ryan said in a statement.

Francis fled to London the day after the procedure and was finally extradited this August.
