Man Shot In The Back In Far Rockaway, 1 Arrested: Cops

A Queens man was arrested for attempted murder for shooting a man in the back in Far Rockaway on Sunday afternoon, police said.

FAR ROCKAWAY, QUEENS — A Queens man was arrested Sunday for attempted murder for shooting a man in the back in Far Rockaway earlier that day, according to police.

A 28-year-old man was walking down Deerfield Road near Beach 29th Street just before 3 p.m. when he was suddenly shot from behind, an NYPD spokesperson said.

EMS rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to police.

Several hours later, police arrested Arverne resident Rashawn Smalls for the shooting.

Smalls, 26, faces charges of attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, a police spokesperson said.
