- A Queens grand jury indicted a Long Island man who falsified paperwork in order to steal a Queens Village home from his dead brother. According to charges filed by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Wagner Recio allegedly filed fraudulent paperwork in order to claim full ownership of the $500,000 home that he co-owned with his brother. The brother had actually left his interest in the home to his 10-year-old daughter as the sole heir of his possessions. (QNS.com)
- Do you think you can draw district lines better than the New York City Districting Commission? The commission is offering anyone who wants the opportunity to try drawing their own district lines using a new online tool. The tool gives access to population data, census blocks, voting age population data, and more. While a draft map is available and will be subject to hearings from Aug. 16 to 22, residents are welcome to submit their own drafts for consideration. (Queens Chronicle)
- A nine-story mixed-use in Sunnyside has launched an affordable housing lottery for its units. The building has 75 residences, 31 parking spaces, and features 8,624 square feet of commercial space. Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to qualify for application. Click the link to learn more about the process. (New York YIMBY)
