  1. A Filipino restaurant chain will be opening a new franchise location in Woodside. Max’s Restaurant, popular for its unbattered, deep-fried chicken, is expected to open its first New York City location at 40-09 69th St. in mid-April. The restaurant will take over the space once occupied by Rosario’s Ihawan in the heart of Little Manila. (Queens Post)
  2. A woman was struck multiple times in the head with a hammer and kicked down the stairs at a Queens subway station. The incident happened on Thursday night just before 11:30 p.m. at the Queens Plaza E, M, R subway station in Long Island City. The 57-year-old woman, whom police sources said is a researcher at the city's Department of Health, suffered a fractured skull and lacerations to her head and is in critical condition at the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.   3. On Thursday morning, a woman was struck by a FedEx truck while crossing the street in Fresh Meadows. According to a press release, the victim, identified as 83-year-old Cecilia Armesto, was crossing Union Turnpike at the intersection of 193rd Street when she was hit by a FedEx truck driven by a 72-year-old man. The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens in Jamaica where she was pronounced dead. (Queens Chronicle)
