Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. The biggest Memorial Day parade in the country returned to Queens yesterday. The mayor of Queens and New York governor both spoke at the parade to honor the fallen military members and to address the mass shooting in Buffalo earlier this month. The parade had taken a two-year hiatus during the pandemic. (NBC New York)
  2. A nonprofit, Connected Chef, based out of Long Island is providing fresh food to Queens residents. "We believe everyone should have the right to eat healthy at home," co-founder Omar Bravo said. Bravo and his wife are both chefs who left the restaurant industry to help their community. Today, Connected Chef delivers free bags of produce and grains to more than 550 families each week. 3. Over a dozen tires were found slashed on multiple NYPD traffic vehicles in Queens over the weekend. According to police, a traffic enforcement agent discovered the defaced vehicles in an unsecured lot on Thompson Avenue near 30th Place in Long Island City around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. No suspects have been announced. (New York Post )
