Here are the top three stories in Queens today:

  1. A missing woman's skeleton was found three months after a report was filed, in South Jamaica by NYCHA workers doing maintenance outside of her home. 54-year-old Queens woman, Marilyn McMichael, is presumed to have been dead since mid-2020, as her calendar has not been changed since. McMichael struggled with an array of mental health issues throughout her life, and family members became concerned about her during the beginning of the pandemic. She often refused their help though, as she did not speak to her family for years prior. Her neighbors reported after the discovery that they had not physically seen her in over a year, and as tests are being done on her skeleton, it may be four to six months before The Medical Examiner's Office can determine a cause of death. 2. This Saturday, get ready to soak up some sun as NYC opens up its eight beaches! There will also be some celebrations taking place to kick off the summer. Coney Island in Brooklyn, Orchard Beach in the Bronx, and Wolfe's Pond Beach in Staten Island will all be hosting different parties and events throughout the week. Starting on Saturday, and lasting all the way through Sep. 12, there will also be lifeguards on duty every day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (PIX11 New York News)
  3. The man who stole almost $200 and held a Queens 7-Eleven clerk at gunpoint has been arrested. On Monday morning, the 7-Eleven on the corner of Main Street and Jewel Avenue was robbed. Alan Malkov, 22, allegedly walked in demanding money and while being held at gunpoint, the cashier handed him about $200. While he tried to flee the scene, police were able to catch him and arrest him, and he is now being charged with several crimes, some of which include robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon and stolen property. There were no injuries or fatalities during the incident. (Patch)
