- Madison Realty Capital is providing a $90 million construction loan to create a mixed-use project in the Flushing area of Queens. The project will consist of two connected buildings that are home to 150 residential condos, 202 hotel rooms, 23,000 square feet of ground-floor and below-grade retail space, and 300 parking spaces. There will be studio, one, two, and three-bedroom formats for residential living, and amenities like a fitness center and outdoor terraces and courtyards. There is no set timeline yet for construction or when the project will be completed. (REBusinessOnline)
- Queens Councilwoman Julie Won held a spontaneous abortion rights rally on Tuesday, denouncing the leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft majority opinion which would overturn Roe v. Wade. Protestors gathered at Lou Lodati Park in Long Island City within an hour, allowing those unable to make it to the larger rally at Foley Square in Manhattan a chance to come together as a community and stand up for their beliefs. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards was also in support of this pro-choice movement. (Subscription: QNS.com)
- A Queens woman was shot dead inside her own home yesterday afternoon. The woman's name has not yet been released, but cops say she was pronounced dead at the scene, after being shot in the head. At first, the primary suspect was a light-skinned man caught leaving the house in a black Chevrolet Traverse, but the police have now stated that they have taken a person of interest, who was in possession of a firearm, into custody.
