- The list of breweries choosing to operate out of LIC is growing! On Monday, New York-based company Finback Brewery announced that it is opening a taproom and microbrewery on the ground floor of a new development in the Queens Plaza section of Long Island City. Finback Brewery, which opened in 2013 with a 25-barrel brewery in Glendale, Queens, has leased a 3,800 square foot space at the bottom of “Sven” which is located next to the iconic clock tower in Queens Plaza. The microbrewery is set to open later this year. (Astoria Post)
- Police say the N.Y. mother who was found dead on the side of a Queens road over the weekend had been stabbed 58 times. According to the New York City Police Department, the woman, identified as 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal, was found at the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Jackie Robinson Parkway in Forest Hills stuffed in a duffel bag. Emergency responders pronounced Gaal dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been identified. (NBC News)
