- A new tree-like sculpture in Flushing Meadows Corona Park lights up the park and allows visitors to charge their phones. The new artificial structure, "The Giving Tree," was built by artist Haksul Lee and will remain in place through Nov. 23. The top of the structure, which is made of locally collected recycled materials, generates electricity by functioning as a wind turbine. (Time Out New York)
- The woman who was stabbed to death on a sidewalk in Astoria, marking the first NYC homicide of 2022, has been identified. The victim, 41-year-old Shwesin Nyuntwai, was found with multiple stab wounds near 23rd Street and Broadway just before 9 p.m. The investigation is ongoing and at this time, police still have not released details on a possible motive or description of a suspect. (NBC New York)
- Police are looking for a man who allegedly flashed a woman outside a laundromat in Glendale on Monday morning. As the 31-year-old victim was heading into her car outside Fullagar Laundromat, located at 71-36 Myrtle Ave., a man allegedly exposed his genitals and began masturbating. The suspect was described as a light-skinned male last seen wearing a black jacket, white sweatshirt, and dark-colored pants. (Ridgewood Post)
