NYC Snowstorm Cancels Dozens Of Flights From Area Airports

John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports reported more than 100 cancelations Monday morning.

QUEENS, NY — New York City's airports saw dozens of canceled and delayed flights as a springtime snowstorm rankled travel Monday morning. John F. Kennedy Airport saw about 45 cancelations as of 4:50 a.m., while there were over 60 at LaGuardia Airport as of 7:26 a.m.

Newark Liberty Airport is also "experiencing several cancellations," but the airport did not specify how many flights were affected in a Twitter post.

Some travelers heading to the city's airports could be stuck in other cities for part of the morning as the latest storm dumps up to five inches of snow on the city by early Monday afternoon.

Some flights headed to LaGuardia are delayed an average of an hour and 37 minutes as the airport manages incoming air traffic during the storm, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Flights going to John F. Kennedy and Newark won't be allowed to depart until at least 9:30 a.m. because of the weather, the FAA's website says.

Officials advised travelers to check with airlines to see how the storm is affecting their flights.

The issues are minor compared to the thousands of cancelations travelers experienced during the March 21 nor'easter that was expected to drop up to 15 inches of snow on the city.
