NYPD Divers Rescue Kitesurfer Stranded Off Breezy Point
NYPD divers rescued a kitesurfer who became stranded off the coast of Breezy Point midday Saturday, police said on social media.
BREEZY POINT, QUEENS — NYPD divers rescued a stranded kitesurfer who became snarled in his own lines off the coast of Breezy Point midday Saturday, according to police and a news report.
A passerby spotted the 59-year-old kitesurfer flailing in the water about 1:30 p.m. and called 911, the New York Post reported.
Police steered a helicopter over the struggling kitesurfer and lowered two scuba drivers into the water to untangle him and hoist him out of the water, the NYPD's special operations team said in a tweet.

Police got the man back on land unharmed, according to the tweet.
