Local leaders say his focus on student success, mental health, and innovative programs has left a lasting legacy for the Queens community and future students.
   

2. Teen fatally stabbed in Queens: NYPD (pix11.com) — A teenager was fatally stabbed Friday afternoon near 76th Street and 86th Avenue in Queens, after being rushed from the scene with critical neck injuries. Police have not released the victim’s identity or motive, and no arrests have been made, so neighbors should expect an active investigation and continued updates as detectives work to piece together what happened.
   

3. Teen indicted in Malba gang assault (qchron.com) — A Queens grand jury has indicted a 19-year-old Far Rockaway man in connection with a violent late‑night street takeover in Malba, where a homeowner and his wife were allegedly attacked while trying to clear trespassers. Queens DA Melinda Katz says the defendant faces gang assault and other serious charges, with a potential 25‑year sentence, as the investigation into additional suspects continues.

Flu season peak not over yet, says health commissioner as cases decline (pix11.com) — Queens currently has the highest number of flu cases in New York City, even as statewide infections drop by more than 40 percent from recent record highs. Health officials say we’re still at the peak of flu season and strongly urge residents to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their families.

Patchogue Woman Claims $1M Lottery Prize: Officials (patch.com) — Queens lottery players might be interested to know that one of the Million Dollar Raffle’s $1 million winning tickets was sold in Queens County, alongside winners in several other New York counties. The top prize recently claimed by a Patchogue woman highlights that big raffle payouts are landing across the region, including right here in Queens.
