Pickleball, Tennis Courts Open At Alley Pond Park

The facilities include 10 pickleball courts, 7 tennis courts, and a 40 x 60-foot turf field.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS – With the pickleball momentum in full swing, Queens residents can now head to the Tennis and Athletic Center at Alley Pond Park to practice racket sports.

The nonprofit Commonpoint Queens hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to celebrate the new indoor and outdoor facility, which includes 10 pickleball courts, 7 tennis courts, and a 40 x 60-foot turf field.

“Whether it be tennis, pickleball, or flag football, Commonpoint will hold programs that keep our kids and community active year-round!,” Council Member Linda Lee, who was present at the ceremony, said in a tweet.

The nonprofit expanded its services to offer private tennis lessons, tennis programs for children and adults, and on-site racquet stringing.

The 550-foot space includes a snack bar area, locker rooms, and showers.

“We are thrilled to enter into a partnership with Commonpoint Queens as our new tennis and sports concessionaire at Alley Pond Park,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue.
