  1. Prosecutors and police conferred Friday about possible charges against the driver of an SUV who hit a 10-year-old Davina Afokoba on Wednesday in Queens. Tests were conducted to see if the vehicle had a mechanical issue; however, the preliminary investigation found that the 35-year-old driver "accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake." As we reported yesterday, the driver of the SUV had a learner's permit; however, the driver was not accompanied by a licensed driver over the age of 21 as required by state law. (New York Daily News)
  2. A Queens lawmaker is inviting students to submit artwork for an Earth Day poster celebration! Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. is asking students in kindergarten through 6th grade to create a unique poster for this year’s New York State Senate Earth Day Poster Celebration. The initiative's goal is to teach kids the importance of Earth Day while featuring their artwork and creative talents on Senator Addabbo's website. (QNS.com)
  3. A Queens woman who was struck by a rock has emerged from a two-month coma. Guiying Ma, 61, was sweeping the sidewalk on Nov. 26 outside her Jackson Heights home when a man smashed a large rock inches from her eye on the left side of her skull. Police have arrested and charged the suspect, Elisaul Perez, with assault. (New York Daily News)
