- President Biden joined Gov. Hochul and Mayor Adams on Thursday to meet with the local violence interrupter team at a Queens elementary school. During his visit to Public School 111 in Long Island City, Biden learned about how community intervention programs tackle the violent crime that’s washed over America’s cities since the pandemic began. The president's visit to the school marked his second stop in the city on Thursday. (Yahoo)
- The off-duty police officer who was shot on Tuesday night during a carjacking in Queens was released from the hospital. 22-year-old rookie officer Manuel Soto was greeted by dozens of his fellow officers when he left the hospital on Thursday afternoon. He is the sixth member of the NYPD shot so far this year. (ABC7)
- Plans to create a pedestrian lane on the Queensboro Bridge have been delayed until at least 2024. According to the DOT, major repairs to the upper deck of the Queensboro Bridge will take until Dec. 2023 to complete — and that work must be finished before a car lane can be repurposed into a lane dedicated for pedestrians. Previously, the DOT said converting a car lane on the southern outer roadway for pedestrians would be completed by the end of 2022. (Queens Post)
