  1. A signature "house-aged burger" helped a Queens diner rank among the best in America, according to a new report. Tasting Table's Jun. 23 report named the Jackson Hole Diner in Queens on the website's list of best diners across the US. The diner, located at 69-35 Astoria Boulevard North, offers the popular burgers, along with the classic décor and house-made shakes. (Daily Voice)
  2. James Caan, a Hollywood icon who was raised in Queens, died on Wednesday at the age of 82. Born in the Bronx on Mar. 26, 1940, and grew up in Sunnyside, Caan was the son of Jewish immigrants from Germany whose father was in the kosher meat business. Councilmember Julie Won, who represents the district and lives in the neighborhood, acknowledged his Sunnyside roots in a Tweet on Thursday. (Queens Post)
  3. Do you recognize this man? Surveillance footage was released on Thursday of an attacker who threw an elderly woman to the ground after a spat turned violent in Queens. According to police, an argument began at around 8:15 p.m. Jun. 27 on 35th Avenue near 79th Street in Jackson Heights when the conflict escalated. The victim, a 70-year-old woman, was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, with injuries to her elbows and knees, cops said. (New York Post)
