Queens Man Arrested For Hit-And-Run That Left 1 Dead, 2 Hurt
A man was arrested on a spate of charges for killing a pedestrian and injuring two drivers in Woodside last week, police said.
WOODSIDE, QUEENS — A Queens man was arrested on more than a half-dozen charges for a hit-and-run Wednesday evening that left a pedestrian dead and two drivers with minor injuries, police said.
Maspeth resident Jorge Samaniego faces a litany of charges — including assault, reckless driving and aggravated driving while intoxicated — in connection with the Dec. 11 crash at Broadway and 60th Street in Woodside, according to the NYPD.
Police say Samaniego was fleeing the scene of a crash at Broadway and 55th Street when he ran a red light at 60th Street and hit a pedestrian crossing Broadway, then raced away.

The pedestrian, 47-year-old Woodside resident Alberto Zamacona, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died two days later, police siad.
After slamming into the pedestrian, Samaniego veered into the wrong side of the road, ran a red light at 61st Street and rammed into a car that was stopped at the light, police said.

The impact pushed that car backwards into the car behind it, which then hit the next car in line at the light.
EMS brought the drivers in the first two cars to Elmhurst Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.
