  1. Two industrial lots on 21st St. will be redeveloped into residential buildings. Plans for the two lots at 27-16 21st St. in Astoria, and at 46-30 21st St., two miles apart on the same road in the Hunters Point area of Long Island City, have been filed by separate developers. The former will be an eight-story building, and the latter will be a nine-story building. (Patch)
  2. The Flushing branch of the Queens Public Library (QPL) will be fully reopening at the end of the month. After a more than two-year closure, the branch, located at 41-17 Main St., will open on Apr. 25 with all in-person library services being made available to the public. To start, the branch will be open on Mondays through Saturdays with Sunday service expected to return in the near future. (Queens Post)
  3. A man with a machete was shot by NYPD on Monday morning in an Astoria apartment building. At around 10:00 a.m., police arrived at 31-63 33rd St. to find the suspect, identified by a senior police official as Eduardo Andrade, holding onto the 911 caller's mother in a narrow hallway. Officers first attempted to use a stun gun on Andrade to get him to release the woman's mother; however, it appeared to have no effect. Police then fired three shots, striking the suspect in the groin area. (NBC New York)
