  1. One day after lifting several COVID-19 mandates in the city, Mayor Eric Adams marched in the Queens County St. Patrick's Day Parade in the Rockaways. Said Adams during the parade, "This parade was the first to stop during COVID, so it’s important that it’s the first to open – that we say our city is back — bigger, stronger, and better than ever." Adams has previously stated that New York has become "boring as a city" amid the past two years of the pandemic. (New York Post)
  2. A 28-year-old man was injured in an apparent road rage shooting on the Jackie Robinson Parkway. According to law enforcement sources, the victim got into a dispute with another driver on Saturday morning, during which the other unidentified driver opened fire. The injured victim drove another two and a half miles before seeking help. Officers from the 102nd and 104th Precincts arrived on the scene, and the man was rushed to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. (AMNY)
  3. In the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Biden Administration declared Ukrainian nationals will have Temporary Protected Status for the next 18 months. In response, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. stated his agreement with the decision: "Queens welcomes with open arms all Ukrainian families fleeing Vladimir Putin's horrific and vile war [...and] stands in firm solidarity with all our Ukrainian American neighbors who are already in the United States [...] We applaud President Biden for quickly extending Temporary Protected Status protections to those individuals."
