Queens Woman Killed In New Jersey Crash: Official

The woman was struck as she walked across a street, the official said.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Queens woman was killed Sunday evening when she was hit by a car while crossing a road in New Jersey, the Monmouth County prosecutor's office said Monday.

Lydia O. Lim, 70, of Long Island City, NY, was walking across Route 9 in Freehold Township when she was hit in the southbound left lane by a 2011 Mercedes Benz C300 at 5:52 p.m., the prosecutor's office said in a news release.

Lim was taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township, where she was pronounced dead at 6:33 p.m., the release said.

In addition to Lim, the driver of the Mercedes was injured when that car was rear-ended by a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the release said.

All involved were taken to CentraState Medical Center, where they were treated and released except for the driver of the Mercedes., the release said. That driver remains hospitalized in good condition, authorities said.

The prosecutor's office did not release any information on the identities of either driver, and did not say whether either the Mercedes or the Jeep had passengers.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, and the Freehold Township Police Department, the prosecutor's office said.
