BELLE HARBOR, QUEENS — An NYPD officer got a sharp surprise when he bit into a sandwich from a Queens deli last week and a razor blade cut the inside of his mouth.

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said the incident, which he originally called an "abhorrent act," turned out to be unintentional, according to a tweet posted over the weekend.

The mishap unfolded Thursday afternoon at the Bon Appetit deli on Beach 129th Street in Belle Harbor, according to Gothamist; the plainclothes officer, whose name hasn't been released but is reportedly assigned to the NYPD's critical response command, was on duty at the time.
