Resorts World NYC Casino Bid In Queens Moves Forward: What To Know
Casino supporters have said that the project could create up to 24,000 jobs.
QUEENS, NY — A community advisory council has unanimous approved a casino proposal on the site of Resorts World New York City in Southeast Queens.
Six board members voted in favor of giving Resorts World a full casino license on Thursday.
The casino proposal — an estimated $5.5 million project — would allow Resorts World to expand the site to include 800 gaming tables and 6,000 slot machines.

In addition, Resort Worlds has plans to build 2,000 hotel rooms, a new arena, more bars and restaurants, as well as a spa and day club. The project will also have 12-acres of public green space.
Resorts World's proposal will now go in front of the State Gaming Commission, who will ultimately decide if the project gets the green light. A casino bid in Yonkers was also approved on Thursday.

Casino supporters have said that the project could create up to 24,000 jobs, with Resorts World committing $1.5 billion into "community benefits."
It’s the third casino proposal to be rejected in Manhattan. A Caesars Palace casino in Times Square and The Avenir on 41st Street have also been turn down.
Community advisory committees are expected to review bids for casinos in The Bronx at Ferry Point, in Coney Island and in Queens next to Citi Field.
