Rollerblading And Drive-In Movies | Queens Events This Weekend

Rollerblading, drive-in movies and the Saint Antonio street fair will put you in a summertime state of mind this weekend in Queens.

QUEENS, NEW YORK -- If you're not in the summer mood just yet, this weekend will get you there. Queens has loads of warm weather activities such as street fairs, stargazing on the East River, and even rollerblading by the beach to get you prepped for the season.

"Grease" Drive-In Movie Night

Neighborhood: Astoria

What: Central Astoria Local Development Coalition will show the timeless flick "Grease" on the big screen at its first-ever drive-in movie night. The event is free, and those who don't have a car are welcome to set up camp in a designated sitting area.

When: 6:30 p.m. on Friday


Skate Night

Neighborhood: Far Rockaway

What: Throw it back to the 80s and 90s with a free rollerblading night by the beach. Popcorn, crafts, tunes, and skates will be provided.

Where: Cardozo Playground, Alverne Boulevard between 56th and 57th Street

When: 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday


Stargazing on the Waterfront

Neighborhood: Long Island City

What: Stargazing guided by the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York

Where: Hunter’s Point South Park, Center Boulevard and Borden Avenue

When: Sunset on Friday


CinemaLIC Presents: Moonstruck

Neighborhood: Long Island City

What: The classic Cher romantic movie, Moonstruck, will be playing for free along the waterfront on this fine summer Friday.

Where: Hunter’s Point South Park, Center Boulevard and Borden Avenue

When: 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday


Free Sunset Silent Disco

Neighborhood: Long Island City

What: A free family-friendly event full of music, dance classes, face painting and more. Grab your free pair of silent headphones and choose between three live DJs battling for your attention.

Where: Long Island City Landing

When: 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday


Race and Immigration Writing Open Mic

Neighborhood: Flushing

What: As part of the New York City Literature Series, this open mic will welcome instructors, writers, and the general public to share stories related to race and immigration issues.

Where: Lewis H Latimer House, 34-41 137th St.

When: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday


Only in Queens SummerStage: Kool and the Gang

Neighborhood: Flushing

What: One of the oldest and best grammy award-winning R&B groups, Kool and the Gang, is bringing its unstoppable sound and energy to Queens.

Where: Flushing Meadows Corona Park

When: 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday


Movies Under the Stars: Moana

Neighborhood: Fresh Meadows

What: A free viewing of Disney’s newest soon-to-be cult classic.

Where: Electric Playground, 65th Avenue and 164th Street

When: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday


Father’s Day Classic Car Show

Neighborhood: Astoria

What: Food, craft vendors, live folk music, and of course, judging of classic cars will make your Father’s Day unique this year.

Where: Shore Blvd between Hells Gate Bridge and the Pool

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.


Feast of Saint Antonio

Neighborhood: Astoria

What: Sunday isn’t just Father’s Day, it’s also the annual Feast of Saint Antonio. Join the street festival and eat up.

Where: Ditmars Boulevard between 41 Street and Steinway

When: 2:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
