  1. A Queens resident was fatally struck by an unlicensed driver this week. The unlicensed box truck driver came to a halt before suddenly plowing into Larry Holmes, 73, on his daily morning wheelchair trip to a nearby store. The driver, Freddy Saquisili, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed driving. (NYDailyNews)
  2. Four members of La Mara Salvatrucha — the gang also known as MS-13 — face murder, robbery, and drug and weapons charges in an indictment unsealed this week from attacking a Queens mother with a machete in April. They stand accused of murdering 31-year-old Nazareth Claure last April and stashing her corpse in a car. The members were charged as part of an 11-person gang takedown. (Patch.com)
  3. Yesterday, NYC Hospitals announced $1M in funding was secured in the Fiscal Year 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act. This funding, critical to the creation of a new Outpatient Dialysis Center at the hospital, will also patients with chronic renal dialysis needs, or those waiting for a kidney transplant, access to dialysis treatments on the Queen’s Hospital campus.
