Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced that multiple subway lines have been suspended due to crew shortages. The suspension has impacted the B, W, and Z lines, the express service on the No. 6 train in the Bronx, express service on the No. 7 train in Queens, and partial suspension of the A train in Far Rockaway. The subway lines have been suspended through Friday, Jan. 7, although there could be even more changes in service this week as the MTA evaluates its staff shortage daily. (FOX 5 NY)
  2. An elderly Queens woman was found dead with neck trauma on Monday night. Just before 10:30 p.m., police found 85-year-old Su Yang in a basement apartment located at 82-117 Country Point Circle in Bellerose. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death. (Spectrum News NY1)
  3. On Monday night, a man was shot during an attempted carjacking in Forest Hills. The incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on 72nd Road, where police say the victim was shot after two men had demanded his car. Police are investigating, and at this time, no arrests have been made. (WABC-TV)
