Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. On Sunday, a suspect was caught after stabbing a 41-year-old Queens man in his apartment, which the suspect had broken into after jumping from balcony to balcony. When the suspect tried to break into another apartment in the building, the family called 911 and police responded, tasering the suspect and arresting him. There is currently no connection that has been established between the suspect and the victim. (NBC New York)
  2. A beachfront dog run is under construction at the Shore Front Parkway near Beach 90th Street in Queens and will cost $1.8 million. The 10,500-square-foot dog park is being built atop a previously undeveloped section of the Rockaways beachfront and will provide separate areas accommodating both large-sized and smaller dogs. The Shore Front Parkway Dog Run project has been in the works since 2018, but construction was pushed back until last September due to the pandemic and other factors. The Parks Department expects it to be completed by the end of this summer. (New York Post)
  3. On Sunday, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams headed to York College to deliver her first State of the City address. Speaker Adams outlined her vision to expand health and opportunity to recover from COVID-19 and improve public safety, focusing on New York City's inequities exacerbated by the pandemic.
