  1. Queens residents, activist groups, and elected officials rallied for reproductive rights after the release of a document indicating the imminent loss of nationwide access to abortions. About 100 people carried signs in support of safe and legal abortions, and leaders said that while abortion is protected by New York State law, expanding access is still necessary. (Queens Chronicle)
  2. City Parks Foundation has fully brought back free in-person sports programming for seniors. The program, which helps seniors stay physically active, held only Zoom classes during the COVID-19 pandemic and offered in-person events in the fall of 2021, but at a limited capacity. Now, everyone in the program can return to the parks to participate in tennis, fitness walking, and yoga, as well as other sports. (QNS.com)
  3. A social media argument escalated into a physical altercation outside of a McDonald’s in Queens, leaving two teenage girls badly injured. According to police, the three suspects, also teenagers, were arrested after repeatedly punching and using a stun gun on the victims. Authorities said the victims suffered swelling and bruising but are expected to recover. (NBC New York)
