Tiffany Cabán Concedes Queens DA Race To Melinda Katz
The Democratic primary for Queens district attorney officially came to a close Tuesday night, six weeks after the election itself.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — The Democratic primary for Queens district attorney officially came to a close Tuesday night, when public defender Tiffany Cabán conceded to Queens Borough President Melinda Katz.
Katz ultimately claimed the nomination by a margin of 55 votes, after a manual recount and legal challenges kept the tally in flux for six weeks.

"I want to thank Tiffany Cabán for bringing closure to this long and hard-fought race," Katz said in a statement.

"Too often, the process of primary campaigns obscures the vast commonalities we share as Democrats and reformers," she added. "We all want a safe Queens where everyone is treated equally."
Cabán's concession speech at Katch Astoria followed a day of legal proceedings at the Queens Board of Elections office.

A judge reviewed almost a hundred ballot challenges from the two campaigns, after which Katz's lead narrowed from 60 to 55 votes.
