- NYPD is looking for four individuals who robbed a train conductor at Queens Plaza on Tuesday afternoon. When the suspects approached a subway conductor, one suspect pushed him off his feet while another stole the keys to the train, according to police. The conductor was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital- Queens for an arm injury and the suspects fled the station via an emergency door to parts unknown. (LIC Post)
- Two street corners in Queens will be co-named after a local historian and a preservationist. At the intersection of Lefferts Boulevard and Talbot Street in Kew Gardens, the street corner will be co-named “Rue Barry Lewis Way” on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to honor the local architectural historian, according to representatives of Queens Community Board 9. In Richmond Hill, the intersection of 114th Street and 84th Avenue will be co-named “Ivan Mrakovcic Way” on Monday after the local architect and preservationist. (Queens Post)
- Southeast Queens students may be eligible for new scholarships by GatewayJFK. GatewayJFK, the business improvement district representing the off-airport cargo community, has announced two new scholarships — the Aviation Program Scholarship and Regional Southeast Queens Program Scholarship. Seniors in high school who are entering trade school or college, as well as currently enrolled students in trade schools, college, or grad school can apply online for the scholarships. (QNS.com)
