Here are the top three stories today in Queens:
- The southbound side of the Cross Island Parkway was shut down during Friday morning’s commute due to an overturned truck. The dump truck crashed on the expressway in Queens, near Exit 26 for the Hempstead Turnpike, however no injuries were reported. Although it wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash, the dumpster portion of the truck had become detached and flipped over. (WPIX 11 New York)
- A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed at a Queens intersection on Thursday night. The 57-year-old man was hit at the Metropolitan Avenue and Rentar Plaza intersection in Queens, and pronounced dead after the accident. Police are investigating the incident. (WPIX 11 New York)
- Three women were arrested on Thursday morning in connection with a Sept. 22 incident. Jordan Nixon, 21, Janessa Torres, 21, and Johara Zavala, 44, have been accused of beating a Delta security officer at John F. Kennedy International Airport with his own radio, knocking him down, and repeatedly punching and kicking him in the face and body while he was down. All three woman now face possible federal charges and could serve up to 10 years in prison if convicted. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
